I couldn't help but pull out the camera when I had an afternoon on my own with four big puppies. Their ages range from 2 to 9 years, but to me they will always be puppies - so I had three dogs in their prime and a grandpop Golden Retriever, the majestic Jed. I took my "pack" to this magnificent dog park in Spearwood. Shooting AND keeping an eye on four dogs proved pretty much impossible, so we all went for a joyful walk on a beautiful afternoon. I did eventually manage to get some wonderful images of our guests, Indie and Jed, and my own Bam Bam and George, who came along to help make Indie smile.
With Jed I feel like he knows to pose for the camera. He's been my model since he was only one year old and me in my second year of uni studying Photomedia. Now he is 9 years old, has more white than golden hair on his face and is approaching very old age for a dog of his size. At the park he happened to step into this heavenly ray of sunlight, that brushed his back and head from behind. Thanks, mate!
I will post a shot of majestic Jed as soon as I catch up with my post-processing. Updating the business is taking up a lot of my time and I'm always glad to be back behind the camera. Nothing makes me happier than studying my subjects, in this case four blonde and chocolate dogs galloping over the soft hills of this delightful park, ascertaining the lighting conditions of a suitable location, choosing the best lens for the shots I'm envisioning, getting the camera's exposure set to accommodate the surrounding light, the light on the subject, the preferred depth-of-field and framing, positioning and then finally taking the frames that will deliver the image and artwork that makes my heart content.
After a fun hour in the park the pack and I returned home dirty and tired but with big smiles on our faces, as you can see in Indie's image below. I'm looking forward to your next visit, Indie and Jed!
